Item is accompanied by two wrappers advertising Goring and Pritchard's first work on microscopy: "The natural history of several new, popular, and diverting living objects for the microscope ..." dated Feb. and May 1829. Wrappers were originally in an envelope which is inscribed: "To be preserved. Nos. 1 and 2. Wrappers of my first work on the microscope published in 1829. They indicate the state of the subject at that time. Andrew Pritchard. 24 Sept. 1872." Pencil inscription on wrapper No. 1: "To be carefully preserved as the only copy left." Inscription on last page of wrapper No. 2: "This being the only copies of the first edition of our work and worth preserving."
